The staff of the SERA is continuing to consider input from our constituents and other coordinating agencies within the United States regarding D-Star and APCO P-25 type systems.  In the meantime, we are continuing to conduct tests and we are communicating our findings with each other in order to make an intelligent and informed decision which will result in new policies for the SERA Coordination Policy & Guidelines for these type of systems.

Although we stated earlier that we would post our official position sometime after our June 2006 meeting, we believe now, more than ever, it is prudent to continue with our tests and evaluate the test results of others.

In the meantime we will continue to issue frequency coordinations using our existing frequency utilization plans. Any coordination issued will be with the understanding that any digital voice repeater that receives coordinated status may be required to change its operational frequencies at a later date.

We apologize for our delay, but haste in developing a frequency utilization plan or coordination policy is not in the best interest of this exciting new amateur radio technology or the owners of these systems.

Dated this 03rd day of June, 2007.
