The SouthEastern Repeater Association, Inc., in keeping with its goals to provide excellent services to the Amateur Radio community through coordination and insightful planning, has adopted provisions to allow for accommodations that will facilitate the amateur operation, in its districts, of digital voice technology repeaters (DVT repeaters) and systems including those such as APCO P25 and D-Star repeaters.

At the organization's winter board meeting on January 5, 2008, in connection with a proposal submitted as a motion by Mississippi Director Steve Grantham - AA5SG, which was subsequently passed by the board, President Roger Gregory - W4RWG, appointed a working committee to implement that needed on the SERA web site and within the SERA FUP, SERA CP&G, and any other SERA documents or forms as needed, and also to assist district coordinators in matters pertaining to the coordination of such DVT repeaters.

In addition to serving in implementation and advisory capacities, the committee will continue to study and bring forth new information as needed to facilitate ongoing effective DVT repeater coordination efforts. Applicants should be aware that due to the level of comprehensive study presently required for coordinated DVT repeater coordination assignments, these will take a bit longer to process than applications for analog FM repeaters and their patience will be appreciated.

The digital voice technology repeater coordination study, implementation, and advisory committee, led by Mississippi Director Steve Grantham - AA5SG, includes other members as Secretary and West Virginia Director Alex Hedrick - N8FWL, South Carolina Vice-Director Jim Cantrell - WJ4C, North Carolina Director Danny Hampton - K4ITL, and North Carolina Vice-Director Frank Lynch - W4FAL.
